Scotland's ATTICA RAGE Announces New Guitarist

April 24, 2007

Scottish metal band ATTICA RAGE has announced the addition of Stephen Bell of Coatbridge, Lanarkshire as the group's lead guitarist following the recent departure of Shaun Nelson. Singer Jonny Parr explains: "Shaun has had to take some time out for personal reasons for an indefinite period and we have left the door open for him. We wish him all the best and will be keeping in touch. However, we've got big plans ahead and we're excited and pleased to welcome Stephen onboard, on a full-time permanent basis as our new lead guitarist. Stephen is an amazing guitarist, influenced by the likes of Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag Darrell and Randy Rhoads, and he's been a friend of the band for a few years now. He was our first choice to bring in and we're looking forward to getting our live set ready for the summer tour."

ATTICA RAGE will hit the road for their eight-date tour titled "Summer Road Rage 2007" between May and July — visiting Ayrshire, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and Berwickshire in Scotland plus a visit to Coventry in England to compete in the Rock and Blues Custom Show Battle of the Bands 2007. The band will perform brand new songs from its forthcoming debut album as well as live favorites from the EP and, as always, some classic rock and metal cover versions. In addition, Jonny will perform a special solo acoustic set of ATTICA songs at the PunkRockBlues.

ATTICA RAGE recently supported post-punk indie godfathers Mark E Smith and THE FALL on their Glasgow tour dates as well as metal legends SAXON, BLITZKRIEG, ARMORED SAINT and newcomers BETZEFER. They are also the only heavy metal band to have performed an acoustic set at the Celtic Connections 2006 festival in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Radio stations across U.K., Europe and America spin tracks from their EP, including IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson on his BBC 6 Music show. Kerrang! magazine heralded their last EP as "a perfectly blended mesh of bad-ass riffs and pure metal revelry"; Terrorizer magazine named the band in a feature on the rise of upcoming U.K. power metal bands and Glasgow's Evening Times tipped them amongst "the bands to watch in 2006." The band has been busy writing and recording its debut album which is due for release later this year and will be supported with a full U.K. tour.
